Wonder Where Those New Oil Tax Dollars Will Be Used?

Wonder no more. The democrats in Congress are already giving us a preview.

Christopher Lee of the Washington Post reports via MSNBC news that the House is trying to fund new lighting for the Capitol building in Washington D.C. This is a part of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Green the Capitol initiative.

Pork spending relates here too, as the $671,900 design costs were apparently steered by Rep. Robert A. Brady (D-Pa.) to a company in his home district.

House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) calls it a “ridiculous boondoggle”.

Everyone supports making the Capitol more energy efficient, but we don’t have to waste taxpayer dollars to do it.

Calculations show that even if the cost of electricity (currently $15,000 per year) were reduced to $0, it would take 45 years to recoup just the design costs (installation costs are extra).

Only the government could call that a good return on investment.
