His latest comment was interpreted as racist by many (including myself). Some people will then make the connection that Republicans are racists (and many do, even though reality is quite the contrary).

Politics is compromise, plain and simple. If one joins a party, their allegience should be to that party. What if I asked you the same question ten years ago? Was your allegiance to your country as strong then as it is now, or because of the leader did your allegiance fail?

As for his behavior, this is the first I’ve heard about him. I’d have to research previous comments to find out if there are any others he’s made that fall into the same category.

What exactly is your qualm with Representative Bruce? Is it that his lack of social norms are ultimately turning people off to the very principles–limited government, liberty–he is attempting to instill? Or is it simply that he is giving Republicans a bad name…along the lines of ‘racist’? Is he doing more bad than good?

Moreover, should our allegiance be in a party of principles?

And, out of curiosity, does this behavior on his part extend beyond the “illiterate peasants” remark?
