The Cost of Going “Green”

Increased transportation costs affect everyone, but none more than those with low and/or fixed incomes. It acts like a regressive tax, yet the liberals that promote these practices say they care about the poor. As usual, their actions don’t fit their words. Yet this isn’t the most immoral practice currently going on.
Corn-based ethanol is now mandated by our government, even though it does not reduce polution and actually increases carbon output. The negative aspects of turning food into fuel are already starting to show up in the world. Several countries are complaining about food shortages. This practice needs to stop now. We have more than enough fuel resources in our country. We have oil reserves in ANWR, coastal regions, and the midwest. We have significant coal reserves in Montana and Wyoming that can be liquified into fuels. We can build more nuclear powerplants to generate electricity. This needs to be done in conjunction with developing other alternative energy sources.
It’s not too late to turn things around, but if things continue as they are going there will be worldwide famine in the not-to-distant future, and we will have played an enormous role in creating it.
