You heard me right. On the Senate floor today, Mitch McConnell brought a unanimous consent proposal to the floor requesting that the Senate immediately consider a resolution to allow drilling in the outer continental shelf if the price of gasoline reached $4.50/gal. Our own Senator, Ken Salazar, objected each time it was brought up (with a higher threshold each time).

Here’s the video.

Mark Udall is also opposed to drilling in the U.S. (including Colorado). This is what the Democrat Party calls leadership. The price of gasoline has doubled in the past two years on their watch. This is not the failure of the Executive Branch of government. Congress sets policy, and determines whether or not companies can extract natural resources. Our country is more and more at risk because of their failed energy policy.

Middle and lower income citizens are being hit hardest, as we struggle to make ends meet while our energy prices continue to rise unchecked. We must be sure that we maintain real leadership at the state, and federal level, as well as replacing failed leaders wherever we can.
