How often we are reminded that it is those in the Democrat Party that care about women, minorities, and children, and those of us in the Republican Party are intolerant, bigoted, chauvinistic, child-haters. Those of us that have been around for a few years know that the Democrats have worked hard in concert with the media to paint this picture, and to a large degree have been successful. Fortunately for us, every so often the mask slips and we see what they really think.

The Rocky Mountain Right blog has picked up a story from Face The State about a behind-the-scenes effort to increase liberal influence in the state via an organization known as the Colorado Democracy Alliance (CoDA). A series of memos has been slowly leaked to Face The State (who’s website is currently down for some reason) showing the involvement of the highest levels of Colorado Government.

An internal confidential memo from the CoDA strategy group shows just what these high-level democrats in Colorado think of the very people they insist they care about.

Minimum Wage: wedge issue management - increasing CO union power: “Educate the Idiots” campaign,
Target: minorities, GED’s, drop-outs…..

They are of course making it known that this is their strategy, right? Well, not exactly. Apparently, for the CoDA, their main focus right now is their:

Leave-no-trace-strategy

The internal memo says this is already ACTIVATED.

You’ll find other interesting things in the memo such as legal maneuvering and distraction lawsuits.

There is no honor, no dignity, no ethics left in government among Democrats. The end always justifies the means. Their policies are a complete failure, and they loathe the very people they say they represent. Dick Wadhams, Chairman of the Colorado Republican Committee responds correctly:

It is incredible that the state’s top-level Democrats hold everyday Coloradans in such a low regard that they feel it appropriate to refer to them as idiots in their internal documents. These are the people who work hard everyday to put food on the table; they do not deserve to be referred to as idiots by those who wish to exploit them for their votes.

One has to wonder why the people on the list thought this was ok. This type of behavior is acceptable from no one, let alone so many who now hold leadership positions in our state government. The right thing for them to do is apologize at once, and return all tainted campaign donations they may have received.

While he was watching the debate last night, my 17-year-old son told me he was going to write up a bulletin on his MySpace page with his observations. The words here are completely his. The only changes I made were formatting.

Economy
————–
Barack Obama. About a month ago this name might have actually scared me, because I truly believed that this man could win the election. But after hearing this man’s economic plan, he, to me, is a laughing stock. Barack Obama says that his tax plan will reach 95% of Americans, but I find it very interesting how this is possible when only 62% of American citizens pay federal taxes. Meaning, that with Obama’s statistics, there is a 38% amount of people that are unaccounted for. Your plan sounds nice on paper Obama, but when you break it down it’s just as soluble as the paper it’s written on.

The presidential debate was everything I could have ever hoped for. John McCain literally laughed at Barack the entire time while putting down every single accusation Barack could throw at him. He went on further to use factual information that yes, Barack tried to dispute, telling the American people the truth about Barack Obama. That Barack Obama has voted to tax people under his beloved 250,000 dollar a year salary limit.

My personal favorite moment of John McCain’s was how he shot down Barack Obama’s business tax accusation. Barack started off saying John McCain wanted to lower taxes on big businesses; and saying that he himself wanted to raise big business taxes to lower taxes on the middle class, and invest in companies that are here in America. Sounds good right? Wrong. John McCain comes back saying,

If you’ll notice, we have the second highest tax rates in the world on businesses; it’s 32%. Ireland’s is 11%. I want to lower taxes on big businesses so they’ll stay here and not ship much needed jobs overseas.

I can only think of one word that can suffice to this quote, I believe it’s Jon Stewart’s favorite saying, BOOM! Obama was just flabbergasted after this, stuttering, looking for words that couldn’t come to him, and almost bringing me to a laughter induced seizure.

I’d also like to point out that at the end of his speech Barack again uses President George W. Bush as a face for the destruction of the economy. I don’t know how many times a 17 year old kid is gonna have to tell him this, but the congress, not the President controls the economy. Notice that when George W. Bush was in office with a Republican congress, our economy was growing? But then, what happens when everyone turns turbo-democrat and elects a democratic congress? Well, look at our economy :).

War
——
Now John McCain is a strong believer that we are winning the war on terror in Iraq. He made this a highlight of his speech on war, but he also put in that he does agree that the strategy needs to be changed and that he himself will change it, unlike Obama who would never admit to doing anything wrong. Barack starts off his speech by saying,

I voted against going into Iraq when it was politically unsafe to do so.

Yea, cuz everyone was for it right? When was it ever politically unsafe to vote against the Iraq war? He continues to use statistics on American deaths and casualties, not the comparison between the two however. Considering that over 16,000 U.S. soldiers died in Vietnam in just one year (1968), while 4,110 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq in the five years as of September 25th, 2008. Violence is down and AQI is on the run. It sounds like we’re winning to me. Maybe Barack should have spent a little more time concentrating on the fact that those facts are so much in our favor, instead of telling us how many of our guys have died.

Barack was against the surge, correct? He had a plan to bring troops out of Iraq the spring before the surge ever began. The surge was successful. His military experience, zero, is shown by this. Barack further went on to say that,

We haven’t eliminated those safe havens like Pakistan.

Again, his military experience shows. Apparently, if there was a group of people that needed to be killed, surrounded by people that wanted to kill him, he would just jump right in the middle and fight his way out. Sorry Barack, it doesn’t work like that. If you’re going to attack a huge safe haven like Pakistan, you better be damn sure that all the surrounding countries which have the same extremist crazies that want America dead inside it are taken care of first. The other reason is, Pakistan has nukes, and we don’t know at what point they’d be willing to use them.

“I don’t know how credible that is”. That’s Barack’s defense to most of John McCain’s factual information.

John McCain’s plan on beating Iran:

A league of democracies with large global economic power to suffocate Iran into an economic defeat.

Barack Obama’s plan to beating Iran:

Obviously our policy over the last few years has not worked.

Um, what?

Foreign Policy
——————–
I’d first of all like to point out that Barack Obama’s first comment on this was,

Russia is not a democracy.

Russia is most definitely a democracy. Former President, yes President, Vladimir Putin has diluted many of the things that make up a democracy, but Russia is now globally known as a democracy. I thought Sarah Palin was supposed to be the amateur on this subject. Barack then says,

Some of Russia’s nuclear weapons could fall into the hands of Al-Qaeda.

Oh, here come the conspiracy theories! I find it very cool that John McCain knows all of these countries names, along with their leaders. While all Barack knows is Achmadenijad. Honestly, since Barack Obama is good at talking and talking only, I thought it would debate would be the exact opposite.

“Foresight and Anticipation” are Barack Obama’s main two points on controlling Russia. Not action, not prevention, not intimidation. No, we shouldn’t make sure that these kinds of things, such as the invasion of Georgia, don’t happen. We should anticipate them coming and watch them happen.

**Side Note**
——————-
At the end of the debate John McCain man-handled Barack Obama verbally with accusations that he couldn’t disprove, facts about his own political career that Barack couldn’t dispute, and all-the-while staying calm, cool, and collected; just as a President should.

Drill NOW. Drill EVERWHERE. THEN we’ll talk.

In thirteen days, the moratorium on exploration on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) in the United States will be lifted. This will allow companies to begin to explore for our own resources, instead of relying on other countries, especially those that are using the money to further the interests of terrorism. We can produce our own oil right here. We can even become an exporting country, which can help our allies no longer be at the mercy of these nations that oppose freedom and democracy.

Those of you in congress had your chance this summer to do something about this. We begged you to do something meaningful before the end of the Spring session. You not only didn’t come up with a solution, you wouldn’t even discuss the situation. Instead, you took a paid five-week vacation, where you were lounging around on sandy beaches or attending $1,000-per-plate rubber chicken fund raising dinners.

That’s ok, we managed to deal with the crisis on our own. We Americans are a resilient bunch. We cut back demand which drove down the price of oil, but this did not come without a cost. Several companies had to lay off workers. People and businesses spent less to offset the cost of energy, which has contributed to a downturn in the economy. I know there are some of you in congress that actually wouldn’t mind seeing our economy have problems. You believe this will help you on election day. And you would be wrong. We see your game, and we aren’t playing this time.

The fact is, we’re mad as hell and we aren’t going to take it anymore. The people hurt most during and economic downturn are those with the least, which according to you are the minorities, single parents, and the children. So spare me the empty rhetoric that you actually care about them. We aren’t listening anymore.

So here’s what we’d like you to do. Nothing. By doing nothing, the problem will simply take care of itself. If you feel you must stay in Washington, go ahead and name some more Post Offices. You seem to be good at that. And if that doesn’t fill your day, go ahead and add some more meaningless non-binding legislation. If your single-digit approval rating for most of this year doesn’t give you a clue, let me spell it out for you in simple terms.

You suck at your job.

Here’s what I really like you do to though. As your boss, let me suggest that you simply,

Take the rest of the year off. With pay.

No, it’s ok. You don’t need to thank me.

Really.

H/T to Mount Virtus for the link.

MT Pundit has the story about Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer who was caught bragging about election abuses involving the election of Senator John Tester during a speech to the Trial Lawyers Convention.

So I called up the courthouse in Silver-Bow and I talked to the clerk and you could image, Governor’s on the phone, the whole world’s waitin’ for your votes to come in…so she gets to the phone, she’s outta breath, she sound nervous as a pregnant nun *laughter* and she starts sayin’ “Brian, we’re gonna have this in. I need 15 minutes.” I said “No, no, don’t’ worry about it, don’t’ worry about it. I’ll tell you what, I’ll call you back when you’re done.” And she say’s “no, I’m sure we can be done in the next 15 minutes.” And I said, “I want you to listen, I want you to listen close. I’ll. Call. You. When you’re done countin’! Now do you understand it?”*laughter* And she’s from Butte, she understood exactly.

Apparently, the actual count of votes wasn’t important to the Governor. Later in the speech he says,

So when ever any body says “you think it’s tied, we gotta do a recount, we got this we got that” We were sunk, we were gonna have another Florida or some other 3rd World Country *laughter* So, waited, waited and we released it right at a quarter to 8 and then I called the Associated Press and he’s up by 21, 22 hundred votes, I called the Assocated Press and I said, “All right, it’s time for you to call the race, I’ve done the math, everything’s in, there’s nothin’ else to count.

Throw in a little pressure from the Governor,

And I said to ‘em “Look, let me tell ya somethin’, if you’re not willing to do your job, I’ll do it for ya. I just called a press conference and you’re invited at 10 o’clock this morning and I’m gonna stand next to the next United States Senator and I’m gonna introduce him to the world cuz you’re not doin’ your job.”

because heaven forbid anyone think the Associated Press isn’t doing their job. Being the good lapdog of the Democrat Party (and not wanting be scooped) that they are, they responded accordingly.

“Alright” So, we called a press conference. We had tv cameras there, we had all the press there and at 2 minutes, 2 minutes before the press conference everybody’s blackberry started buzzing…the Associated Press in MT has just called the race for John Tester.

You can read the entire transcript here, and there’s an audio link there also if you want to hear it with your own ears.

Much has been made recently by various media sources about the vetting (or lack thereof) of Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin. Many sources are saying that the McCain camp did not properly investigate her background, and is now being surprised by sudden revelations by the media. Elizabeth Bumiller of the NY Times, as reported by MSNBC writes,

A series of disclosures about Gov. Sarah Palin, Senator John McCain’s choice as running mate, called into question on Monday how thoroughly Mr. McCain had examined her background before putting her on the Republican presidential ticket.

Let’s take a look at the media’s attempt to vet the candidate for McCain.

1. Abuse of Power related to the dismissal of the state public safety commissioner.
2. Member of Alaska Independence Party
3. Supporter and campaign member for Pat Buchanan
4. Husband convicted of drunk driving 22 years ago.
5. Daughter five months pregnant.

The problem here isn’t that McCain’s camp didn’t properly vet Sarah Palin. There’s plenty of evidence that investigations took place. From the article,

Mr. McCain’s advisers said repeatedly on Monday that Ms. Palin was “thoroughly vetted,” a process that would have included a review of all financial and legal records as well as a criminal background check. A McCain aide said that the campaign was well aware of the ethics investigation and that it had looked into it.

The issue for these people isn’t that McCain didn’t do his homework. They’re upset that they didn’t do theirs. Sarah Palin has been listed as a potential running mate in several locations, including online and MSM polls. Either they didn’t take her inclusion seriously, or they already had it in their mind who McCain would choose (my money is on both).

The MSM really preferred Joe Lieberman, someone with whom they are much more comfortable, and also because of the ramifications of that choice with the conservative Republican base. They were certain the Maverick McCain, who had shoved sharp sticks into the eyes of conservatives in recent years, would do it one more time.

What really disturbs the media is that they were caught completely off-guard. In their own bloated self-worth, they believed that nothing would slip by them of this magnitude. Even the powers that be in Alaska were licking their wounds, because apparently they thought themselves more important than they were. Lyda Green, the State Senate president, who lives in Wasilla, where Ms. Palin served as mayor said,

They didn’t speak to anyone in the Legislature, they didn’t speak to anyone in the business community.

Representative Gail Phillips, a Republican and former speaker of the State House, said the widespread surprise in Alaska when Ms. Palin was named to the ticket made her wonder how intensively the McCain campaign had vetted her.

I started calling around and asking, and I have not been able to find one person that was called. I called 30 to 40 people, political leaders, business leaders, community leaders. Not one of them had heard. Alaska is a very small community, we know people all over, but I haven’t found anybody who was asked anything.

The MSM, liberal blogosphere, and Alaska Republican leaders were caught completely off-guard by McCain’s selection. They’re scrambling like crazy right now trying to find out anything and everything that they can about Palin, and digging up whatever dirt they can find. So intent to find something, they resort to lies, half-truths and innuendo. So sure they’re as important as they think they are, that surely McCain must really be out of his mind.

McCain knew what he was getting, because he did his homework. Maybe they should have spent more time doing their job of investigative reporting, instead of worshiping at the altar of The One.

Desperate for something after recent losses, Dems put words in McCain’s mouth.

According to an article at the Denver Post, Republican Presidential candidate, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) suggested that the Colorado River Water Compact should be renegotiated. Colorado Democrat Governor Bill Ritter and Senator Ken Salazar (D-CO) seized on this word used by McCain and put their own meaning to it. Salazar claims,

The political disruption that would result from any renegotiation of these allocations would create a water war across the West.

Governer Ritter commented,

[McCain's statements on the water compact] just showed to me either a naivete or even a hostility toward water usage in Colorado.

Even Colorado Senate candidate Bob Schaffer had strong words for McCain,

[McCain] will not have a more fierce fight from a United States senator than he will from me.

McCain sent a letter to Senator Wayne Allard (R-CO) to clarify his statement and assure him that his words were taken out of context and he had no intention of rescinding the Water Compact.

My recent remarks may have been mistakenly construed as a call to rescind the Colorado River compact and commence negotiations for new water allocations. Let me be clear that I do not advocate renegotiation of the compact. I support constructive, continuing cooperation and dialogue among the states and the water users in a manner that is fully consistent with the compact.

After reading McCain’s letter to Senator Allard, Bob Schaffer commented,

It’s obvious to me that when Sen. McCain was in possession of sufficient background information, he quickly came to the right and proper conclusion on the Colorado river compact.

John McCain ended up on the right side of this issue, but has given Colorado democrats some talking points with his early statements on the issue. This is especially important for them because they’ve been beaten up pretty severely over oil drilling for the past few months.

The democrats of course will continue to trumpet McCain’s earlier statements on the issue and neglect to mention his later clarifications. This will likely soften the blow they’ve taken on energy.

Colorado remains the battleground State for 2008. It’s important that every candidate carefully measure their words before making policy statements here. Every word will be placed under a microscope until November.

John McCain held a press conference today regarding the escalating situation in Georgia. He welcomed the steps that are being taken, but believes more must be done to ensure the security and stability of the nation of Georgia.

He showed great concern for the loss of innocent life. He refused to allow the reporters to get him to respond to attacks from the Obama campaign that he was shooting from the hip.

I know the people of Georgia have enjoyed an unprecedented period of prosperity and freedom. And I know that at this time they’re suffering mightily. So maybe later on in the campaign, let’s have a back-and-forth about who has comments or statements. Now, let’s devote all our energy to helping resolve a situation which is fraught with human tragedy.

Real Leaders care about people, especially those that are suffering at the hands of tyrants. They realize that when people are dying, it’s not a time to try to make political points, but to do everything possible to help stop the loss of life and help those that have already suffered.

Keith Olbermann led tonight’s news with the AP story about McCain’s chief foreign policy advisor. Where’s the outrage over the hundreds of thousands of innocent lives lost because of Russia’s aggressive takeover of large parts of the sovereign nation of Georgia without a U.N. mandate and a coalition representative of the world?

Also today, a man lost his life due to the cowardly act of a psychotic individual. Someone lost a husband, and children lost a father, yet some cold-hearted people chose to make a political statement instead of showing concern for a grieving family.

This is where it matters, folks. The liberals use loss of life for political gain. They talk about peace and tolerance, but just look at the comments that have come out from them today. They’ll inflate death tolls to make points with their fellows. They truly have no regard for human life, unless it helps them to feign outrage at what their opponents are doing.

My heart is heavy today. Real people have died in the past few days. Someone’s father, mother, sister, brother, son and daughter. Freedom is once again being challenged in our world, by tyrants that care only about controlling land, including their natural resources. When it really IS about oil, the liberals fall suddenly silent.

John McCain stood up for these people today. He unequivocally stated that this behavior will not be tolerated from nations that say they want to be a part of the Free World. He in no uncertain terms told the nation of Russia that if they want to continue to become a part of that World, they will go back from where they came and stay there.

Now that’s Presidential.

Matt Fries is running as the Republican challenger for the Colorado State Senate seat in District 14 against incumbent Bob Bacon. Fries previously ran for a seat on the Fort Collins City Council where he was narrowly defeated by progressive Lisa Poppaw.

Matt Fries is a grew up in Fort Collins, is a graduate of Fort Collins High School, after which he became the General Manager of the family’s printing business. Matt is married to Suzanne, and together they have 3 children: Rachael, 19; Marshall, 18; and Ethan, 8. Fries will have information on his positions on the issues in the near future.

Fries faces a difficult challenge in this race. Incumbent Bob Bacon defeated popular former Fort Collins Mayor Ray Martinez, in no small part due to the campaign involvement of the Colorado Education Association (CEA) and its local affiliate the Poudre Education Association (PEA) . Bacon is a former educator and administrator in the Fort Collins area. This support was challenged in the courts, and although the appeals court found that violations did occur, ultimately the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that election laws were not broken.

This means that Fries will be at a distinct disadvantage in both fundraising and volunteer recruitment. It is important that conservatives in the Fort Collins area become involved in this campaign to try to even the playing field as much as possible. As of May, 2008, Bacon and already raised over $20K, while Fries had only raised a little over $3K. Donations to the Fries campaign will be very important going forward for him to be able to gain visibility with the voters.

Fries apparently won’t be getting any help from the local media either. According to local blogger NoCoPolitics.com, The Coloradoan didn’t think it important enough to send anyone to a press conference held by Fries where he was stating his position on a Charter Amendment regarding public-employee unions. Apparently, forcing local state incumbents Bob Bacon(D, CO-14), John Kefalas(D, CO-52) and Randy Fisher(D, CO-53) to take a stand on this important issue wasn’t in the Coloradoan’s agenda.

Matt Fries is a solid businessman that understands the difficulties families and small businesses face in Colorado today, and will go to Denver to fight for us. Bob Bacon only promises more of the same in continuing to support the declining Colorado public school system. Bacon appears to be more interested in promoting sex education in our schools than the 3 R’s.

It’s time for a new direction in Denver, and it begins with electing Matt Fries to the Colorado State Senate, 14th District.
